A group of UW-Parkside students came away from the opening reception for the Juried Student Art Exhibition as prize winners. This showing of the best work by art students and non-art majors opened Tuesday in the Emile H. Mathis Gallery inside the Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for Arts and Humanities. You can see it through April 14.

Organized by the Artisan Craftsman Establishment (ACE), the campus student art club, and juried by local artists Steven Jones, Bruce Niemi, and Ben Rinehart, the award recipients were:

ACE Scholarship: Maryam Athari

1st place/Best of Show: Chad Tuura

2nd place: Tim Anderson

3rd place: Sam Keil

Other awards winners: Martin John Antaramian, Kollis Branch, Ashley Buczkiewicz,  Ben Friedrich, Jami Rutherford, and Carly Vinkavich

Honorable Mention: Jean Chars, Spencer Elizabeth Karczewski, and Audrey Lewis

Gallery hours for the Juried Student Art Exhibition are Tuesdays and Wednesdays noon to 6 p.m., Thursdays noon to 8 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
