Campus News Short Takes:
Two UW-Parkside women's athletic teams were recently engaged with kids in the community:
Friday, March 30, the women's volleyball team was at the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha to train youth on fundamentals of the game and the importance of doing well in school in order to play sports;
Saturday, March 31, the women's soccer team played at the Club's state-of-the-art indoor field as part of the Kenosha Public Library's Big Read event.
Kudos to AmeriCorps*VISTA member Lauren Devine for playing a key role in keeping the athletes and the kids on the ball.
The UW-Parkside softball team plays its "Paint Parkside Pink" games Saturday, April 14. In honor of the occasion, the team is selling PAINT PARKSIDE PINK shirts this week across campus. The shirts are being sold Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Student Center Bridge and in the Sports and Activities Center main office on the second floor daily from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Cost is $12 for a one-sided shirt, $15 for two-sided shirt. The hope is that you'll attend the games?in your themed shirt?to cheer on the team and support Breast Cancer Awareness! The games are played on the diamonds just east of the Sports and Activities Center, and the opponent is the University of Indianapolis. The doubleheader starts at noon. Other events will be happening during the game including auctions and a 50-50 raffle. So come on out, cheer on our softball team, and support the fight to defeat breast cancer.

This family-friendly free event takes place from 7 p.m. to midnight in The Den of the UW-Parkside Student Center and is open to the community. In addition to dance music from Banda Dezeo, you can "buy a date" with a Latinos Unidos member during an auction. That's "Noche Tropical," Friday, April 13, 7-midnight in The Den.
