Campus News Short Takes
UW-Parkside was honored to have Timothy Calnin, general manager of the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) on campus Monday, April 16. Mr. Calnin toured the Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for Arts and Humanities stopping to admire the Frances Bedford Concert Hall. Our Australian colleague Carmel Ruffolo said the ACO is her country's premiere international orchestra and she called them "very impressive" after hearing them in concert Sunday in Chicago. The ACO is world renowned having played for England's Prince Charles among many other dignitaries and their spectacular collection of instruments includes a rare Gesu violin crafted in 1742. Ruffolo said there's a possibility the orchestra could play here in their next tour in 2014.
