33rd Leadership Banquet today, 5 p.m., Ballroom |
Running a UW-Parkside student organization is a great way to develop leadership skills, skills that enhance students' marketability and give them a foundation for career success. Today starting at 5 p.m., we celebrate our student stars at the 33rd Student Leadership Awards and Recognition Banquet. Sponsored by Student Activities, this event takes place in the University Ballroom of the Student Center.
"The banquet is designed to recognize the outstanding accomplishments and achievements of our student organization leaders," said Interim Director of Student Activities Tony Kwiatkowski. "The nominees and award winners are perfect examples of the university's four Hallmarks of Student Success, Academic Excellence, Diversity and Inclusivity, and Community Engagement."
Kwiatkowski said the awards students will receive at the banquet include: Distinguished Student Leader, Senior Student Involvement, Emerging Student Leader, Organization of the Year, Advisor of the Year, Community Service and Outreach Award, and Highest Cumulative GPA.
In conjunction with the banquet, the university celebrates the third annual Residence Life All-Star Day. Today, the Office of Residence Life recognizes 68 student leaders who live in and contribute to the residence hall communities. These students must meet five important scholarship and leadership goals to be ResLife All-Stars.
The students' names and the goals they met and surpassed are on the campus web site.
Each All-Star will be wearing a commemorative t-shirt today and will be recognized at the banquet.
"Please join us in celebrating and congratulating these outstanding students, who positively contribute to our UW-Parkside community," said Shane Hawkins-Wilding, interim assistant director of the Office of Residence Life.
Tickets are still available for the banquet. They are $10 and are available in the Student Activities Office, Student Center L104.
