The doors of the Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for the Arts and Humanities will open to the community and UW-Parkside alumni tomorrow, Saturday, April 28, for a Community and Alumni Celebration. Twenty-two exhibits, activities, and performances from arts and humanities organizations throughout the region take place between 2 and 5 p.m. The event is part of the UW-Parkside Year of the Arts, and is designed to bring community members to the new building and give alumni an opportunity to gather in this beautiful new space.

Many of the events are interactive, and a number of them cater to children. The full schedule is on the UW-Parkside web site. Activities include edible books, art workshops, a musical petting zoo, an acting class for children, and photos in costume cutouts. Other entertainment includes the play "Antigone" as performed by UW-Parkside Theatre Arts alumni, art exhibitions like the Veterans Book Project and Chalk Talk Kenosha, a trio of concerts, and more. Plus, there's the umbrella art display that's worth the trip to campus all by itself.

This is an event you won't want to miss!
