Wednesday-Friday: Festival of English & Humanities

The third annual University of Wisconsin-Parkside Festival of English and Humanities is Wednesday, May 2, through Friday, May 5, in the Student Center and Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for the Arts and Humanities. Primarily focusing on students' work, the festival gives them the opportunity to share their work and demonstrate how they contribute to the literary and artistic conversation. All of the events are open to the university and the public.

Panels of interest include discussions on:

  • Eco-Criticism
  • The Literary Apocalypse
  • Medieval and Contemporary Constructions of the Monster
  • Video Game Narratives
  • Teaching and Tutoring Internships

There is also a collaborative conversation on the construction of UW-Parkside's Outdoor Labs.

Students and professors have worked together to construct interactive and interesting ways to present these ideas through their designated panels. The Festival schedule includes dramatic performances from students in Theatre Arts and cinematic productions from the Film Studies program. In addition to student work, Richard Lyons and Jessica Lyn Van Slooten serve as keynote speakers.

A complete conference schedule is available on the university web site. More information is available on Facebook. If you have questions about the festival, contact Dean Karpowicz by accessing karpowic@uwp.edu via email.

The Festival of English and Humanities is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, the UW-Parkside English Department, Straylight Literary Arts Magazine, and Sigma Tau Delta.
