Wis. Chamber Brass Quintet July 27 at Bedford Hall. |
The UW-Parkside Summer Music Series presents its final two performances in the Frances Bedford Concert Hall during July. Enjoy King & Cos Friday, July 20, and the Wisconsin Chamber Brass Quintet's "Brass & Beer" concert Friday, July 27. Both programs begin at 7 p.m. in Bedford Concert Hall located in the Rita Talent Picken Regional Center for Arts and Humanities. Admission is free.
"King & Cos" is Virginia King and John Costigan who perform often-ignored songs in a zany bi-polar array of styles from folk-rock and blues to jazz and country swing. Then there are John's original songs like "The President's An Alien" and "If I Had Wheels."
Musical variety is also on tap during the Wisconsin Chamber Brass Quintet's "Brass & Beer" performance. Formed in 2001, the WCBQ features Kenosha area music educators John Sorensen and John Nepper on trumpet, Mike Monk on horn, Paul Taylor playing the euphonium, and tuba player Karl Mueller.
This concert offers listeners a taste of every style of music imaginable: renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic, and modern. Because it's titled "Brass & Beer," you can be sure the music will have a connection--however obscure--to the libation that has launched many friendships.
More information about these performances is available by calling the UW-Parkside Fine Arts Box Office at 262-595-2564 or by accessing karen.sorensen@uwp.edu via email.
