Holmes, DeVinny go OOT in Milwaukee
Emeritus art professors Doug DeVinny and David Holmes may have retired from teaching but they haven't retired from being creative. The two former UW-Parkside faculty members are among seven southeastern Wisconsin artists featured in
"Out of Town: Artists of Racine and Kenosha" at the Blutstein Brondino Fine Art Gallery in Milwaukee starting Thursday, July 26
DeVinny and Holmes are joined by Jerrold Belland, Maureen Fritchen, Edwin Kalke, Kathleen Marie Laybourn, and Marjorie A. Venn for a show by Wisconsin artists who have, according to the gallery, "?infrequently shown their work in Milwaukee."
DeVinny shows pieces like "Scrambled Thunder," a digital print on paper inspired by the engines of Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
Holmes is showing works like "Cloaked Extremities," a portrait in paint and mixed media inspired by his own face. The exhibition's opening reception is Friday, July 27, starting at 5:30 p.m. Blutstein Brondino Fine Art Gallery is located at 207 E. Buffalo St., Gallery 212, in Milwaukee. Hours are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and by appointment. The exhibition continues through Sept. 6, 2012.
