Jones named int. Advising/Career Center director
University of Wisconsin-Parkside Associate Provost Dennis Rome has announced the appointment of Gwen Jones as interim director of the Advising and Career Center. Gwen has served as the university assistant registrar since 2009.
"Her outstanding employment experience and exceptional educational background makes her an excellent choice to lead the initiative to create a more decentralized, integrated model of advising and academic support," Rome said.
Prior to her arrival at UW-Parkside, Jones served as assistant director of Advising and Student Services at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The appointment met with enthusiastic approval.
"I have worked with Gwen in the Registrar's Office since 2009 and she has been absolutely phenomenal in managing and implementing projects to improve the quality of service for students, faculty, and staff," said Jolanda Dinkins, the university's transfer credit evaluation coordinator.
Dr. James Kinchen said, "I continue to be impressed as a faculty member with her excellent work in the Registrar's Office, whether it is with the handling of grades, participation in campus meetings, or attention to those small hitches that one sometimes encounters in matters of class registration."
Teaching & Learning Center director Jim Robinson called the appointment, "A stellar decision."
Jones started her new assignment Monday, Aug. 6.
