Linda Wawiorka, audio/video services coordinator, attended the Sloan-C Blended Learning Conference and Workshop in Milwaukee earlier this year and came away a winner. As everyone who has worked with her knows, Linda always has her camera and when she saw a "Photo Challenge" was among the opportunities available at the conference, she submitted the image shown above--and took first place! The Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C) is an institutional and professional leadership organization dedicated to integrating online education into mainstream higher education.

The Office of the Provost has announced New Faculty/Staff Orientation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 28 and Wednesday, Aug. 29. New non-teaching academic staff and classified staff will attend Wednesday's session while new faculty and teaching academic staff attend both days. Fall 2012 Convocation takes place Thursday, Aug. 30, in the Student Center Ballroom beginning with breakfast at 8:30 a.m.

SOLAR will not be available starting Friday, Aug. 17 at 8 a.m. and is scheduled to be back in service by Saturday, Aug. 18 at 8 p.m. If you have any problems or concerns regarding this scheduled outage, contact Campus Technology Services by email at campus.technology@uwp.edu  or call extension 2003.

Ruth Tylock is the new program assistant supervisor advanced in the new College of Natural and Health Sciences. Ruth reports directly to Dean Emmanuel Out. She started her new duties Aug. 1. Ruth came to the university in 1991 in purchasing. In 1996, she joined the Regional Staff Development Center which evolved into the Center for Community Partnerships (CCP). Within CCP, Ruth worked in continuing education, youth programs, and K-12 education outreach. She has been CCP's administrative team leader for the past six years. Ruth holds a B.A. in Management/ Communications from Concordia University Wisconsin and an Associate Degree from Gateway Technical College.
