"Salvaged Views" in Foundation Gallery

Exhibition features landscape views that depict heaping piles of paper, bottles, and scrap-metal recycling. Working on this subject over the course of three years, Minneapolis artist Michael Kareken took thousands of photographs in busy outdoor recycling yards, then, back in his studio, rendered these piles of junk in beautifully composed drawings and paintings in muted earth tones.
