"The University of Wisconsin-Parkside is future oriented.  We are positioned to lead and succeed in the new normal of higher education." That was just part of the message Chancellor Debbie Ford delivered to faculty, staff, and members of the community during her Fall 2012 Convocation speech Thursday.

She told more than 300 in attendance that, in order to strengthen its mission, the university must continue to be a good steward of it resources, and exceed expectations of greater accountability. Ford also mentioned the university's goal of leveraging its superior expertise with new technology to deliver high quality academic programs to adult learners.

"I applaud the level of engagement from the team of faculty and staff exploring UW-Parkside's contribution to the newly announced Flexible Degree Option," Ford said, referring to the UW System collaborative online program.

Convocation also included recognition of faculty and staff award winners, and a welcome to new members of the UW-Parkside community. In the accompanying photo, Alfredo Sandoval Flores receives the Advising Excellence Award from Chancellor Ford.

The event concluded with a fun-filled take off on the popular TV game show "Family Feud." The convocation version of the show helped inform faculty and staff about progress on the university's self study in preparation for re-accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) in spring 2013.
