Ranger Welcome kicks off 2012-2013. YES!

A clean, attractive campus and a two-day student welcome overflowing with genuine school spirit. On the eve of the 2012-2013 academic year, University of Wisconsin-Parkside Chancellor Debbie Ford praised people and departments for their work on two fronts: to make the campus shine and to immediately make our new students feel they are part of something special.

"The campus looks great!" Ford emphasized, thanking everyone for their efforts to prepare the campus for its fall 2012 opening. "All of the buildings have been cleaned top to bottom, The Rita shines for its first fall opening, the galleries are ready to open for their first fall shows, the new electronic door access works, the residence halls and renovated apartments are ready to welcome our students, the new video monitors share important campus updates, the power-up stations have been installed across campus, classrooms are ready, and new offices have been created."

Ford said colleagues and campus visitors alike commented "on how wonderful the campus looks" and expressed her appreciation for the "hard work by the staff members who have made it possible."

The Chancellor also praised Ranger Welcome and Ranger Rally festivities saying they "...demonstrated our commitment to student success!" She praised Andrea Zick and Kelly Bellin for their leadership of these events and thanked the departments attending the Chancellor's Picnic for meeting and greeting our new students.

The departments involved were Political Science, Philosophy, and Law which received the participation award; Athletics, Student Activities, Residence Life, Student Health and Counseling, UW-Parkside Police and Public Safety, Enrollment Management, Graduate Parkside, Advising Center, LGBTQ Center, Office of Multicultural Students Affairs, Campus Technology Services, Provost Terry Brown, and Dean of Students Tammy McGuckin.

"And the cross country teams performed the UW-Parkside fight song in grand style!" Ford enthused. She went on to praise campus fraternities and sororities for sharing their talents and their Ranger Pride as well as ROAR leaders, peer mentors, and student leaders clad in their bright green shirts for rallying UW-Parkside's Class of 2016.

"Thank you," the Chancellor concluded, "for the great work happening at UW-Parkside!"
