Survey said…HLC “Family Feud” fun, educational
With the campus visit by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) team less than eight months away, UW-Parkside's push for re-accreditation is gaining momentum. And while the importance of retaining the university's accreditation cannot be overstated, communicating about the process and sharing information doesn't have to be deadly serious.
That was the thought behind the spirited game of "Family Feud" played during the 2012 Fall Convocation. Instead of individual families, convocation participants were divided by tables. And instead of survey questions like "Name something people mistake for a U.F.O.," our colleagues were asked questions like "What was the most often cited success for UW-Parkside in the previous 3-5 years?"
Each table would click on one of the five possible answers then, like the game show, the table answers would be compared to the survey answers.
Those readers who want to play Family Feud now, use the link to access the PowerPoint presentation. Those who want to see the survey questions and audience responses now, use the link to the questions and responses.
The program closed with a request to convocation participants to read and comment on the self-study draft, the first of which is now posted on the web site.
