Print from your laptop? Yes, we can do that!
Printing on the fly is much easier these days at UW-Parkside. If you have a laptop computer and a Ranger Card, you can now send your documents to one of seven conveniently located printers on campus. The new system even works if you're sitting in a car in The Rita parking lot.
"With the steady increase of students bringing laptops to campus we wanted to make it convenient for them to print directly," said Learning Technology Center Lab Manager Chris Robaidek. "All seven stations will print black and white jobs sent from either a Mac or a Windows laptop. They will need to be connected to wireless to print. Regardless of where they are on campus, their job is sent to a print queue that is available at all 7 stations."
Instructions and the files needed to make a laptop capable of printing on campus are on the Campus Technology Services (CTS) web page.
"So, I could send a job from my laptop while sitting in my car in the parking lot?there's wireless coverage in The Rita lot now?swipe my Ranger Card at the printer closest to my class, and print out my job," Robaidek said. "The jobs even stay in the print queue for 2 hours, so you could send it before going to class and print it out afterward."
