Sept. 26: Retirement & the Roth 403(b) option

Saving for retirement isn't easy. However, UW-Parkside's Human Resources Department offers a pair of workshops Wednesday, Sept. 26, on the UW Tax-Sheltered Annuity 403(b) Program. These 60-minute TSA "Basics Workshops" begin at 10:30 a.m. and noon in the Student Center Hickory Room.

The workshops are primarily aimed at new investors and for those not yet in the TSA program but employees with established accounts will find it beneficial, too. After attending, you should better understand the basics of investing and what to look for when you choose your investments.

A Roth 403(b) option is now available. In a Roth 403(b) account, contributions are included in taxable income in the year they are made but the account balance and earnings are not taxed when distributed (subject to restrictions). Participants contribute through payroll deduction using the Roth 403(b) option to the same kinds of investments in the pre-tax 403(b) Plan.
