George Wang, Associate Professor of Sociology, was one of the four invited speakers at the 2012 Chinese Government (National) Scholarship for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad award ceremony at Purdue University Sept. 21. The scholarship was established by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) in 2003 to encourage outstanding self-financed doctoral students studying abroad to achieve high academic performance. Professor Wang was joined by speakers Guoqiang Yang, Consul General from the Consulate General of China in Chicago; Victor Lichtenberg, executive vice president of Purdue University, and Professor Haidi Ross, Director of the East Asian Studies Center at Indiana University at Bloomington.

Steve Fleck, Associate Professor of Health, Exercise Science, and Sport Management; was a member of the task force and co-author of the statement concerning sudden death in college athletes titled "The Inter-association Task Force for Preventing Sudden Death in Collegiate Conditioning Sessions: Best Practices Recommendations." Convened in response to several recent sudden deaths in college athletes, the task force met at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. The statement was published in the Journal of Athletic Training 47:477-480, 2012.

William Ebben, Associate Professor of Health, Exercise Science, and Sport Management; published the paper "The relationship between mental skills, experience, and stock car racing performance" in the Journal of Exercise Physiology-online15(3):10-18. 2012.
