HR forums to deliver details on new UPS
University of Wisconsin-Parkside faculty and staff are "strongly" encouraged to participation in one of the three open forums on the University Personnel Systems (UPS) being held Oct. 16-18 in Greenquist 101. Interim Human Resource Director Barbara Farrar said the meetings are Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m.; Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 3:30-4:15 p.m., with the final meeting Thursday, Oct. 18, 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Feedback gathered at these meetings is due to the University of Wisconsin System by Friday, Oct. 19.
"The UPS project is very exciting. We're in the process of crafting an improved employee structure to take effect July 1, 2013," Farrar said. "We have received input from our stakeholders [employees] that we need to make improvements in recruitment, promotional opportunities, performance management, job titles, and job categories to name a few."
Farrar emphasized the changes brought about by UPS will affect all UW employees, especially classified staff. She said an informative page of frequently asked questions is available on the UW System UPS webpage.
System is in the final stage of reviewing UPS recommendations. Some of the recommendations will go to the Board of Regents and the Joint Committee on Employment relations for approval.
"Then we get to work with UW System, other UW institutions, and our campus to create the detail of these changes," she said. "After these changes are implemented over the next couple years, we hope to see an improvement in the overall campus climate."
Again, the sessions are Tuesday 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m.; Wednesday 3:30-4:15 p.m., and Thursday 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in room 101 of Greenquist Hall.
