Kate Barr to speak at Nonprofit Leadership Conf.

The Center for Community Partnerships (CCP) at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside presents the 7th annual Nonprofit Leadership Conference Tuesday, Nov. 13. Featuring the keynote address "Beyond the 'New Normal:' Nonprofit Sustainability" by Kate Barr and a series of breakout sessions, the conference takes place in the UW-Parkside Student Center from 2:45-8:15 p.m. The campus is located at 900 Wood Rd. in Kenosha.

Designed for current and future board members and executive directors of nonprofit organizations, the conference is part of the CCP's ongoing effort to develop a pool of informed people to strengthen the nonprofit sector through more effective governance and leadership.

Barr is executive director of the Nonprofits Assistance Fund in Minneapolis whose mission is to build financially healthy nonprofits that foster community vitality. She has led the organization's growth as a premier resource for training, strategic financial consulting, and loans for nonprofit organizations. Her unique insights and experience have made Barr a popular speaker, trainer, and writer on nonprofit management and financial issues.

In addition to the keynote address and a break-out session led by Kate Barr, the Nonprofit Leadership Conference also offers nine other break-out workshops addressing organizational governance and development. These include The Role of the Board in Strategic Planning and Succession and Planning and Advocacy for Nonprofits, among others.  New this year is a hands-on social media clinic where participants receive one-on-one assistance with creating and updating social media for their organizations. The conference also features an "expo" of vendors whose products or services cater to nonprofit organizations.

Cost of the conference, which includes conference materials and dinner, is $59. A special $29 rate is available for leadership program participants, senior citizens, and UW-Parkside faculty, staff and students. Register online at www.uwp.edu keyword: ccp.
