Kenosha Co. installs parking signs at Pets lot

As expected, Kenosha County has installed new parking signs at its lot on Highway JR. The signs read:

PARKING RESERVED FOR

Petrifying Springs Park visitors only.

UW-Parkside students, faculty

and staff please use university parking lots.

Road construction inside the park and a popular new dog training facility located near the lot were contributing factors to the county's decision.

"The county needs that space," UW-Parkside Police Chief Jim Heller explained.

A spokesperson for County Executive Jim Kreuser's office said the county wants to avoid ticketing and towing.

"We hope to not have to call the Sheriff's Department," said chief of staff Jennie Tunkieicz.

Saying there is ample parking available in campus parking lots, Chief Heller reiterated the free services--battery charging, tire changing, the shuttle and more--offered at campus lots. There are other ways to save money on university parking including discounted student parking passes for the Tallent Hall lot.
