UW-Parkside students find success…on rugby field!

More than two dozen UW-Parkside students are finding success in their field?in this case, the field is the UW-Parkside Rugby Field on Highway E. The team, coached by alumnus Todd Streeter, has a home playoff game this weekend against Southern Indiana.
The Ranger ruggers defeated DePaul University 21-19 on Saturday, Oct. 20, and then beat UW-Stevens Point 28-15 Sunday, Oct. 21, to win the Wisconsin Rugby Football Union Championship.
"With those wins, we advance to the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) playoffs and host Southern Indiana this Saturday, Oct. 27th, at 1 p.m. at the Parkside Rugby Field," Streeter said.
The members of the champion UW-Parkside Rugby team are wings Steve Akerlund and Mac Booth, fullback Austin Brunet, Mike Clary, 8 Man; fullback Rob DeGrazio, props Petar Doko and Nathan Drysdale, wings Zakir Ellis and Zach Faulkner, Ayrton Gifford, 8 Man; Joey Giorno, flyhalf; inside center Danny Gitzlaff, Cameron Heyden, lock; flankers Robert Jackl and Tom Jacobson, prop Jeff Jewell, locks Jeff Kempen and Mike Konvalinka, captain Wikus Loots, flanker; scrumhalf Erik Miller, prop Dwight Mueller, scrumhalf Brady O'Shaughnessy, outside center Dave Sauceda, John Schanke, lock; hooker John Slupik, and flanker Brian Strenk.
Again, the NSCRO playoff match against the University of Southern Indiana is Saturday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m. at the Parkside Rugby Field (Highway E Field) located east of the intersection of Highways E and JR in Kenosha.
