Students & Faculty: Take “Entrepreneur’s Journey”

Ask BizTimes Publisher Dan Meyer to define "entrepreneur" and he'll tell you it has little to do with being the owner and much to do with being an innovator.

"You don't have to be the actual owner or founder to be an 'entrepreneur.' If you are in a large, medium size or small business; if you're the president or a staff person, you can be or think and act like an entrepreneur," Meyer said.

Students and faculty can expect these kinds of insights when Meyer serves as the College of Business, Economics, and Computing (CBEC) fall semester Executive in Residence. Meyer speaks on "Entrepreneurship and an Entrepreneur's Journey: If I knew then what I know now" Thursday, Nov. 15, at 9:30 and 11 a.m. in the Student Center Cinema.

CBEC Interim Dean Dirk Baldwin said Meyer's appearance is part of the university's ongoing effort to help students learn business fundamentals from business leaders.

"The idea behind the Executive in Residence series is to share with our students the success story of a local business leader," Baldwin said. "Our students will learn a great deal about the business of being an entrepreneur from Dan Meyer. I'm looking forward to hearing his presentation, too."

Baldwin added students will have the opportunity to tap into Meyer's expertise during the question and answer session to follow the presentation.

Admission to both Executive in Residence sessions is free and all students, regardless of their majors, are welcome to attend.
