Wood to serve as Commencement Grand Marshal

When Brassworks launches into Edward Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance" during UW-Parkside's Winter Commencement, it will be Gary Wood doing the heavy lifting?literally. Our Chemistry Department colleague and Secretary of the Faculty is Grand Marshal for the Sunday, Dec. 16, ceremony which entails carrying the mace at the front of the procession. Graduation starts at 1 p.m. in the de Simonen Gymnasium of the Sports and Activities Center.
Head Marshal Lisa Marie Barber has another 11 faculty and staff members who have agreed to lead the proceeding during the university's ultimate event. Dr. Farida Khan from Economics and Office of Institutional Effectiveness project manager Jordiana Leon-Jordan will serve as faculty/staff marshals.

June Roys, Art Lecturer, and

Bachelor of Science Marshals:
Claire Hicks, Modern Language Lecturer
Jesus Quevedo Torrero, Computer Science
John Skalbeck, Associate Professor, Geosciences, and
Maria McWilliams, Biological Sciences Lecturer
When they, their students, students' relatives and friends, and other attendees aren't busy with diplomas, they will have the opportunity to hear from UW System President Kevin Reilly. Dr. Reilly serves as commencement speaker during the ceremony. UW-Parkside graduate Mike Falbo will represent the Board of Regents.
