RSVP: Your invitation to UW-Parkside’s graduation

Winter commencement for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside is Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012. There is one ceremony beginning at 1 p.m. in the DeSimone Gymnasium of the Sports and Activity Center. And we'd like you--the faculty and staff of UW-Parkside--to join us for this memorable day.

"Graduation is an important event in the lives of our students and their families. We take pride in the fact that many of our graduates are the first in their families to receive a baccalaureate degree," said Interim Provost Fred Ebeid. "We sincerely hope you will join us...since graduates value your presence as people who helped them achieve their goal."

This year's program features a keynote address by University of Wisconsin System President Kevin Reilly. During the ceremony, alumnae Dr. Julie Kinzelman will be honored with an Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award and the audience will hear from student speaker Julie Evans.   

Caps and gowns are standard attire for graduates. Faculty and staff are urged to participate in the processionals and encouraged to wear formal academic attire, which can be purchased or rented from the UW-Parkside bookstore. Undergraduate attire (cap, gown, and tassel) can be purchased for $33.95; Master's attire (cap, gown, hood, and tassel) can be rented for $46. All rental orders are prepaid transactions and since minor measurements must be taken, phone orders cannot be accepted. Call the bookstore at ext. 2301 for more information.

Special seating is reserved for faculty and staff near the stage. You are asked to call Julie Lee at ext. 2261 or e-mail Julie at Julie.lee@uwp.edu by Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, to confirm your attendance. Please note: If you plan to be in the procession, please arrive in the field house at least 20 minutes before the ceremony begins.
