WRS contribution rate to increase for 2013

In 2013, the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) employee contribution rate increases from 5.9 percent to 6.65 percent for all employees except those covered in the Executive WRS category. The UW-Parkside Human Resources Department said the change takes effect on the first check payable in the New Year.

While many complex factors affect WRS contribution rates, the increase is primarily due to two factors: lingering effects of the 2008 global economic meltdown and recent changes in the law. Contribution rate changes, increases or decreases, are considered normal for retirement systems that have defined or pre-funded benefits.

If you have any questions about your WRS benefits, call HR at 262-595-2204 or access hr@uwp.edu by email.
