All that (military) jazz here Jan. 14! |
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Music Department and the College of Arts & Humanities present the United States Marine Corps All-Star Jazz Band in concert Monday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. This one-night-only performance takes place in the acoustically perfect Frances Bedford Concert Hall of the Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for Arts and Humanities.
An 18-piece ensemble, members of the Marine Corps All-Star Jazz Band are drawn from 10 different U.S. Marine band programs throughout the world. They convene once a year for a concert tour.
"The Marines love it because it is a great opportunity for them to play in an ensemble like this," Chief Warrant Officer Jim Ford, the band's leader, told the web site DVIDS. "[Touring] has been great."
The concert will feature a variety of jazz standards.
Tickets for the Marine Corps All-Star Jazz Band concert are free but seating is limited. To reserve tickets, visit www.uwparksidetickets.com and click on "Music" or call the UW-Parkside Fine Arts Box Office at 262-595-2564. Parking for this event is also free.
