Pride Week packed with events

UW-Parkside Pride Week Feb. 11-15!

The second week of spring semester is green and white and great all over. Pride Week starts with Monday's kick-off at noon, continues with Wednesday's first-ever Faculty/Staff Talent Show, finishes with a semi-formal on Friday, with other entertaining events we can be proud to participate in the rest of the week (that's why it's called "Pride Week").  

Monday, Feb. 11, join the Pride Rally in Main Place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Our athletic team coaches will speak and the Chaos and UW-Parkside Dance Team will perform. Ranger Bear? He'll be there! Free photo key chains and magnets available and we'll have free snacks and refreshments. There's even a UW-Parkside trivia table where students, faculty, and staff can answer questions to win fabulous prizes.

Tuesday, Feb. 12, hot chocolate...mmmmmmm...is served up on the bridge and you can get a free travel mug while you're there.

Wednesday, Feb. 13, the Student Organization and Involvement Fair is held in Main Place from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. On the day before Valentine's Day, the Org. Fair theme is "Fall in Love with an Organization." At 7 p.m., the Faculty/Staff Talent Show rocks the Student Center Cinema. Witness acts like Amy Piekarski from Residence Life, Ana Guerriero from the LGBTQ Center, Elizabeth Hanson-Delgado from the Student Center, Brandi Liantonio from English/Humanities, Dave Buchanan from University Relations, and Paul Aceto from Sociology/Anthropology, Politics Philosophy and Law. Voluntary donations collected at the door benefit United Way of Kenosha and Racine.

Thursday, Feb. 14, is the Pre-Game Showdown! It starts at 4 p.m. in the Den with Spirit BINGO! We'll have free pizza, and you'll play BINGO for UW-Parkside swag and goodies. At 6:30 p.m., the event moves to the SAC for pre-game prep. We'll have poster-making, tattoos, and free pizza before the basketball games.

Friday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., we'll make blankets in the Student Center Oak Room to benefit Project Linus, an organization dedicated to providing love and a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children in need. At 8 p.m., the UW-Parkside Pride Week semi-formal takes place in The Den. Admission is just $5 and you'll dance to a DJ and have your image digitized by a photographer.
