Our Faculty: Jonathan Olsen, John Ward

Jonathan Olsen, Professor of Political Science, recently completed revisions on the textbook manuscript "The European Union; Politics and Policies (fifth edition)" with co-author John McCormick. Professor Olsen, a three-time Fulbright Scholar and German Academic Exchange Service recipient, is an expert on German and European politic. He has held visiting appointments in Germany at the Universities of Münster, Potsdam, and the Viadrina European University in Frankfurt-Oder. He is the author/co-author of the books German politics, German politics and society, German studies review, and problems of post-Communism. "The European Union; Politics and Policies" has already been widely adopted for university courses on European and EU politics. He is working on a new research project on political parties in the European Parliament.  

John Ward, Assistant Professor of Geography, recently published a paper examining the global dissemination of music titled "Piracy or Preservation? The Underground Dissemination of Bootleg Recordings on the World Wide Web" which is available online. He accepted an invitation to present the paper titled "The Dissemination and Preservation of Reggae Recordings on the World Wide Web" at the Institute of Caribbean Studies in Kingston, Jamaica this month. In addition, Professor Ward teaches three courses during the Summer 2013 semester as part of the Wisconsin in Scotland program. This study abroad program is held in Dalkeith, near Edinburgh.
