Rangers gear up for postseason play

The UW-Parkside athletic department gears up for postseason play with the basketball teams traveling to Evansville, Ind. for the quarterfinals of the 2013 Deaconess Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament while the wrestling and women's track squads head to Birmingham, Ala. for the NCAA Division II Championships.

The 2013 GLVC East Division Champion men's basketball squad faces Kentucky Wesleyan College on Thursday at 6 p.m. inside the Ford Center. The Rangers won both regular season meetings against the Panthers, prevailing 60-59 on Jan. 26 and 75-70 on Feb. 7.

The women's basketball team hits the Ford Center court on Friday at 8:30 p.m. against Quincy University. The Rangers advanced to the quarterfinals after dominating Drury University 65-39 on Sunday.

Ranger wrestling qualified four wrestlers for the NCAA Championships set to begin on Friday. Dillon Bera advanced at 157 pounds while Josh Anthony, Davien Willis and James Malechek qualified at the 174, 197 and 285-pound weight classes.

Jessica Watychowicz will be the lone representative for the Rangers on the track, qualifying for Indoor Nationals in both the 3,000- and 5,000-meters. The senior heads into the championships ranked 12th in the nation in both events.
