Final four “Book of Days” performances Mar. 14-17

Parkside Theatre presents the final performances of Lanford Wilson's mystery "Book of Days" this Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. This study of murder and martyrs is presented in the Black Box Theatre of the Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for Arts and Humanities.

In a small Missouri town, Ruth Hoch, played by Hayley Cotton, and her husband Len (Kenjamin Lafayette) help run the cheese factory owned by Walt Bates (Joe Romanak). Walt's son James, portrayed by Michael Pfeiffer, is playing an increasingly important role at the factory and he's none-too-pleased with Len's management practices.

Ruth is cast as Joan of Arc in the community theatre's production of Shaw's "St. Joan." When Walt dies in a suspicious hunting accident, Ruth takes her cue from the Maid of Orleans and begins a dogged, but unpopular, search for the truth.

Director Brian Gill's strong cast also includes Michael Dalberg as the world weary play director Boyd Middleton, Brenna Kempf as Louann Bates and Rachael Sandlin as Sharon Bates are the women James Bates plays like pawns, Alex Metalsky as the deliberately myopic Sheriff Atkins, Brittany Bouche as Len's free spirited mother Martha, Blaine Connor as the ambitious Earl Hill, Ben Carlstein as the equally ambitious Rev. Groves, with Olivia Kraus as aspiring actress Ginger Reed.
