Tournament Time: Men to Missouri, women to Ohio

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's and women's basketball teams have the same goal this weekend but they are heading in different directions to pursue their dreams. Both teams open their quest for an NCAA Division II Tournament title: one in Springfield, Missouri; the other in Ashland, Ohio.

After a five-year hiatus from national tournament play, the UW-Parkside men  face Michigan Tech University for the second time this season Saturday, March 16, in Springfield. The Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division Champion Rangers (20-8) earned the fifth seed in the Midwest Region and will take the court against the 20-8 Huskies who are the fourth seed from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The two squads clashed in the non-conference game with the Michigan Tech escaping the DeSimone Gymnasium with a 69-51 victory on Dec. 29, 2012.

The women's basketball squad is making its fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Tournament where they familiar nemesis Lewis University on Friday, March 15, in Ashland. The Rangers (20-9) claimed the seventh seed and will face the 21st-ranked and second seeded Flyers for the fourth time this season. The Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament Champion Flyers won the previous three meetings, including a 61-59 decision Saturday in Evansville, Ind., in the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament.

Both games will be broadcast on WRJN radio, 1400 on the AM dial. Go Rangers!
