Get “The Beat” at Monday Mic Night in The Den

Okay, it's Monday night; 7, maybe 8, maybe 9 o'clock and you're looking for something fun to do on campus. The Den has a suggestion: come downstairs in the Student Center for "Monday Mic Night."               

"We contacted the Music Department to see if anyone would be interested in playing live music in The Den," said Sodexo Retail Manager Lisa Wagner. "We got the idea from last summer when some music students played outside during lunch at Wyllie Market on Wednesdays when Chef Joe was outside grilling. It was called Tasty Tunes and it was a big hit and lots of fun. So, we thought: 'Can we do the same thing in The Den.'"

The regular Monday Mic Night band is called The Beat. They perform from 7 to 10 p.m.

"They try to mix up the type of music each week and once a month they make it an Open Mic Night to give others the chance to be superstars," Wagner added. "It brings a new crowd downstairs and we hope our new guests frequent The Den more often. We also hope The Beat gets followers from their performances."

So, it's Monday night and you're looking for something fun to do on campus. Give The Den's "Monday Mic Night" a try.
