April 26: ‘Real feel’ of UW-P at Experience Days
For high school students and adult learners who want a "hands-on" look at campus, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside offers Experience Day. Scheduled Friday, April 26, Experience Day take students inside the labs, into the studios, and face-to-face with current students for the view of campus they won't get anywhere else.
"We like to say Experience Day gives you the 'real feel' for what UW-Parkside campus life is all about," said Admissions Counselor Alli Baird. "You get to be part of a hands-on academic experience, tour the campus, and meet our students and the faculty members you'll be working with. It's an inside, in-depth look at campus."
What do Experience Day participants do? In Natural and Health Sciences, they visit the laboratories students work in during their first year on campus. They learn about the university's cadaver and learn what a lung test tells about an individual's health.
In the College of Business, Economics, and Computing, it's all about networking. Here, participants learn from UW-Parkside students the importance of network building for success in business. They also learn about networking computers for success in cyber space and cyber security. Participants also network with a senior academic advisor to start the success process.
For those interested in the Arts and Humanities, each Experience Day is a chance to see all that "The Rita," UW-Parkside's Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for Arts and Humanities, has to offer. Students tour The Rita's state-of-the-art studios, production facilities, three theatres, three art galleries and numerous art studios, music rehearsal halls, theatre rehearsal halls, the acoustically perfect Frances Bedford Concert Hall; and, perhaps, get the opportunity to unleash their inner-Hamlet on the Main Stage.
UW-Parkside's Social Sciences and Professional Studies faculty will help guests explore the variety of majors and specialty areas of study within the college and how these majors can translate into successful careers.
