PAO presents PAssiOn-ate 2013 Asian Heritage Month
The Parkside Asian Organization (PAO) is ready to make April a passionate month. PAO plans several events to celebrate the continent's proud peoples and proud heritage.
"We are bringing Asian Heritage Month 2013--with the theme of 'PAssiOn"--to campus through a various interactive educational and cultural events," said PAO President Anh Nguyen. Plans have been finalized for three events, Nguyen said, with more to come. They are:
PAssiOn for Dancing, Asian Heritage Month Celebration, April 3, noon, Main Place
The professional Polynesian dance troupe Mana-Pasifika presents an exciting interactive performance focusing on South Pacific cultures. Plus delicious Asian cuisine will be served free!
PAssiOn for Paper, April 4, Student Center Oak Room
Did you know origami came from the Japanese word "oru" meaning "to fold" and "kami" meaning "paper?" PAO members will help us learn how to turn paper into beautiful, funky, ingenious, and even useful items. Snacks will be served.
Interracial Dating in Today's Society, April 8, Student Center Oak Room
UW-Parkside student Linda Vang presents a look at how interracial dating involving Asian Americans is perceived in the media as well as throughout history.
