Today: Graduate Parkside Open House
You've seen the graphics splashed across the windows along Lower Main Place. You've seen the activity of an office of busy colleagues, and you may have wondered what's going on in the space once occupied by the campus bookstore?
Get the answers to your questions today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the Graduate Parkside Open House. Located in room D174 of Wyllie across from the Career Center, the goal of this federally-funded Title III program is to help students persist from matriculation to graduation.
"We're trying to get people--'people' being students, staff, faculty, administrators--everybody!--not just thinking about coming to Parkside--and that's important--but to see them graduate from Parkside and be a success in the roles they choose after graduation," said Graduate Parkside Director Cindy Graham.
The grant was awarded with the intent of impacting retention rates particularly with at-risk, first-year, first-time students.
Dr. Graham said open house attendees will come away with answers to their questions about who is doing something to improve retention and that they may experience some "a-ha" moments.
"We want them to get a sense of who we are and to get a sense of the efforts being made about retention. I think there will be some surprises for people," Graham stated.
At noon, UW-Parkside Chancellor Debbie Ford and Associate Provost Dennis Rome will join Dr. Graham to share brief remarks. Graduate Parkside staff members will be on-hand throughout the day to share additional insights about the team's work..
