April 12: Assessment Showcase featured at First Friday
By Kim Kelley, Assistant Vice Chancellor, Institutional Effectiveness
Most of you are aware Friday, April 12 is this month's First Friday, but you may not be aware that the university's faculty, led by the Academic Achievement Assessment Committee (AAAC), in collaboration with the Higher Learning Commission Student Learning Outcomes Academy (HLC-SLO) are having an Assessment Showcase. The showcase starts at 3:30 p.m. and coincides with the First Friday.
The AAAC and HLC-SLO have worked collaboratively with the departments to establish an assessment liaison program for each major at the university (and a few minors, too). Faculty liaisons will share their program's assessment project, outcomes, and next steps in the form of a set of posters. The posters show the breadth, depth, talent, and energy the liaisons have put forth to demonstrate the quality teaching and learning occurring at this university. An award will be presented by Chancellor Ford and Provost Ebeid and there will be a People's Choice award also (get out the vote!!).
Everyone is asked to stop by, if only briefly, to review the posters, speak with the faculty representing their departments, and thank them for their hard work to develop and implement these projects. They are interesting (really!) and the faculty work is quite impressive. That's Friday, April 12, 3:30 p.m. in the Faculty/Staff Lounge, second floor of the Library. There will be food! There will be voting! We need you to come out and show your support!
