Help wanted, Part 1: Faculty Director of CBL
Center for Community Partnerships Executive Director Dr. Jane Schaefer recently announced that after five years of service, Dr. Helen Rosenberg is stepping down as faculty director of community based learning and research on June 30, 2013.
"We are grateful to Helen's leadership of faculty community based learning efforts and look forward to her continued involvement as a CBL practitioner in both teaching and research," Dr. Schaefer said.
The new faculty director position begins July 1, 2013. The initial appointment is for three years. The new director works with the CCP staff to lead community based learning at UW-Parkside. A position description is available online.
The Faculty Director of Community Based Learning and Research position carries a two-course release (per year) and an annual salary supplement. This individual must teach full-time at UW-Parkside and have demonstrated experience with, commitment to, and knowledge of the purpose and goals of community-based learning and research, particularly as it relates to the broad vision of an engaged campus. The new Faculty Director will have demonstrated experience working effectively with culturally diverse students and staff, and ability to work constructively with a variety of university and community constituencies.
In a subsequent email to campus, Dr. Schaefer reiterated the position is open to those who teach full-time at UW-Parkside, "which is why it was sent to both faculty and academic staff. I realize that we may need to adjust the title, depending upon who is hired into this position," she stated.
