You are invited: Spring 2013 Commencement May 18
The ultimate campus event--Commencement!--takes place Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The De Simone Gymnasium of the Sports & Activity Center will be packed to the ceiling with smiling students, families, and friends during the feel-good moments of the year.
"Commencement symbolizesthe amazing impact the University of Wisconsin-Parkside has on the lives of our students and on the life of our community," said Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor Fred Ebeid in an email to campus. "As faculty and staff, you have made a profound difference in our graduates' academic experience. Let us join together with the students and the community we serve to celebrate our achievements."
This year's guest speaker is Catherine Jacobson, president and CEO of Froedtert Health. The Grand Marshals are Associate Professor of Communication Jonathan Shailor at the 10 a.m. program and Associate Professor of Art Dennis Bayuzick at 2:30 p.m. During the ceremonies, six graduating students and four alumni will be honored with university awards.
Students graduating with bachelor's or master's degrees from the College of Business, Economics, and Computing, and College of Natural and Health Sciences cross the stage during the morning ceremony; bachelor's degree recipients from the College of Arts and Humanities and the Division of Social Sciences and Professional Studies are honored in the afternoon. Faculty and staff are asked to meet at the Sports & Activity Center and will march from the Petretti Fieldhouse to the gymnasium (there will be no outside procession).To be part of this very special day in the lives of our students and the history of the university, R.S.V.P. to Julie Lee via e-mail at email@example.com or call 262-595-2261 by Wednesday, May 1, 2013.
