We want you! Volunteer for Hunger Cleanup May 4
The tradition of campus service to the community continues Saturday, May 4, when we celebrate Hunger Cleanup! Starting at Petrifying Springs Park Pavilion #3 at 8 a.m., participants will provide a day of community service that raises awareness of hunger, homelessness, and environmental issues at earth-friendly worksites in southeastern Wisconsin.
"We are expecting approximately 150-200 people," said Hunger Cleanup spokesperson Jessica Kluver. "And there's always room for more. We urge volunteers to sign up at the Hunger Cleanup table on the Student Center Bridge or at the Advising and Career Center."
Kluver said the Advising and Career Center is located in room D175 of Wyllie Hall.
Hunger Cleanup sites and their locations are:
- UW Extension Garden of Giving, Racine
- River Bend Nature Center, Racine
- Wind Point Lighthouse, Racine
- Ridgewood Care Center, Racine
- Sturtevant Beautification, Sturtevant
- Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast, Kenosha
- Kenosha Achievement Center, Kenosha
- Eco-Justice Center, Racine
- Pringle Nature Center, Bristol, and
- Shalom Center, Kenosha
Participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the food drive.
The day's agenda calls for:
8-9 a.m.: Check in at Pavilion #3, (breakfast, t-shirts, speakers)
9-9:30 a.m.: Travel to cleanup sites
9:30 a.m.-noon: Volunteer work
noon-12:30 p.m.: Return to Petrifying Springs
