Racine REC dedicates Weather Bug
The "WeatherBug" weather station at Racine's Root River Environmental Education Community (REC) Center made its public debut Saturday, June 1. The combination weather vane, temperature gauge, barometric pressure sensor, and rainfall measurement device has been providing meteorological information to local weathermen and students since September 2012. A nearby camera provides a view of the Root River. The Weatherbug was made possible by a grant from the AT&T Foundation.
The debut was featured in an article written by Journal Times reporter Lindsay Fioriand printed in the paper's Sunday, June 2 edition. The article is available online.The REC Center, located at 1301 6th St. in Racine, is a joint educational venture of the City of Racine and UW-Parkside.
