Falbo Elected Regents President
Regent Michael J. Falbo of Franklin was elected president of the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents Friday, June 7. Regent Regina Millner of Madison was elected to serve as vice president.
Falbo was a member of the UW-Parkside Foundation Board from 1996 to 2008, serving as president from 1999 to 2001. He received the UW-Parkside Distinguished Alumni Award in 2001 and the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009. Falbo earned his bachelor of science in business in 1980.
First appointed to the Board of Regents in 2004, Falbo served as vice president for the past year. He succeeds Regent Brent Smith in the top leadership post. Following the election, Falbo told fellow regents about his ideas for developing a new strategic plan for the board.
"I would like us to become even more engaged and effective in supporting the work of our chancellors and the colleges, universities, and extension networks they lead, and help them achieve their goals," he said. "That is what our System is all about; the educational opportunities, graduates, jobs, and economic impact of our campuses. We need to keep them up front in our thinking, and we must be driven by their goals."
