23rd Summer Arts & Crafts Festival June 22
Southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois' official summer kickoff event, the Summer Arts and Crafts Festival, returns to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside campus Saturday, June 22. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., nearly 200 artisans and craftspeople offer unique artwork and quality handmade crafts. The Festival also features a variety of music, a raffle, and more.
"We have many new vendors this year; we're at 190 vendors and counting," said festival organizer Jennie Filippone. "This year, recycled art seems to be popular in jewelry, woodworking, knitting, and yard art."
Among the treasures available, Filippone said woodworking vendors will offer beautiful wooden bowls, pens, and styluses. In addition, jewelry, purses, ceramics, baskets, framed and unframed photos and prints, floral arrangements, lawn art, bird houses, soaps, and hair accessories will be offered. For the connoisseur, vendors will offer gourmet chips, salsa, dip mixes, and other food items.
Patrons at the 23st Summer Arts & Crafts Festival will be entertained by music from UW-Parkside faculty, students, and area musicians. There will be free face painting and a vendor raffle booth where a $1 ticket could win a great piece of art or craft. Food will be available for purchase with all proceeds benefitting the UW-Parkside Music Scholarship Fund.
Admission is free as is parking. For more information, call the UW-Parkside Fine Arts Office at 262-595-2581.
