Ranger Bear Medical Update
A little more than two weeks after delighting hundreds of thousands of fans during the Kenosha Veterans Parade and the Racine Fourth of July Parade, the popular UW-Parkside mascot, Ranger Bear, was injured during the Racine Raiders "Mascot Night" Saturday.
Details of the incident were not available. However, sources inside the Raiders marketing department who spoke on the condition of anonymity said Ranger Bear received assistance from the Raiders training staff and returned to action in time to award bicycles to two lucky fans.
In a show of true sportsmanship, Ranger Bear was aided to the training room by mascots from two of Racine's rival high schools -- the Horlick Rebel and the Park Panther. Apparently, the panther and rebel put all rivalry aside to assist their injured colleague.
Ranger Bear is currently listed as day-to-day. It is not known how the injury may affect future appearances this summer.
