Youth Bands of Parkside
We are very honored and excited to partner with American Youth Ensembles and Hal Leonard to debut an educational program in southeastern Wisconsin: Youth Bands of Parkside. American Youth Ensembles, in cooperation with Conn-Selmer, Inc., is a network of instrumental organizations offering middle and high school musicians a performance opportunity beyond the regular school day in ensembles comprised of instrumentalists who simply enjoy making music.
American Youth Ensembles was founded by Charlie Brodie and Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, two individuals who enjoy creating positive educational and musical experiences for students. Their intent is to bring together highly talented, motivated, and respected music educators from throughout the United States under one umbrella organization in an environment designed to support, augment and complement existing school programs.
The Youth Bands of Parkside membership, chosen through a process involving director recommendations and an audition, is composed of 75-80 wind and percussion performers from the public, private, parochial and home schools in the southeastern Wisconsin area. All members must be actively involved in their school music program and must be recommended by their music teacher.
With a planned performance schedule of three concerts per year, Youth Bands of Parkside ensembles perform a variety of repertoire ranging from traditional (transcriptions, marches and works of serious and artistic merit) to cutting-edge contemporary composition and music from popular media venues.
Through this unique relationship performers will have access to esteemed conductors, educators, composers, soloists and ensembles - providing an opportunity to experience music in a unique, rewarding, instructive and constructive environment.
