Steve Meyer, Professor Emeritus, UW-Milwaukee Presents:
From the Mississippi Delta to Chicago: The Blues and Two Postwar African-American Migrants, 1920s & 1960s
A discussion of the cultural and geographic origin of the blues, its chronology and growth, some important composers and influential artists and their instruments.
A former UW-Parkside professor, Steve (Stephen) Meyer is a social and labor historian and an Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, In the 1990s, he spent a summer at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss., at a National Endowment for the Humanities seminar studying the blues. Since then, he has taught courses on the Blues as History and Culture at the two UW campuses.
