Model Organization of American States
More than 300 students and teachers from nine local high schools are participating in the Model Organization of American States Thursday, Nov. 14, and Friday, Nov. 15, at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Now entering its third decade, this UW-Parkside program is the oldest regional government simulation in the United States.
The Model Organization of American States (MOAS) is a simulation exercise where, through role playing, students represent diplomats and political officials of the Member States of the OAS. They follow parliamentary proceedings to debate and approve resolutions dealing with current issues on the Inter-American agenda. The Models foster the development of leadership skills in youth such as negotiation, team-work and problem solving.
