UW-Parkside scholarship applications available.
UW-Parkside scholarships help students finance education
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside offers a variety of scholarships to help students pursue their education and career goals. University officials say now is the time to apply for scholarships for students who plan to attend UW-Parkside during the 2006-2007 academic year.
Approximately 150 scholarships are awarded using a broad spectrum of criteria including academic achievement, leadership, financial need, or major. Students interested in art, music, or theatre arts scholarships are asked to contact these departments directly for information on deadlines for submission of portfolios and audition dates.
Regardless of individual criteria, students complete just one application in order to be considered for all UW-Parkside scholarships for which they meet eligibility.
UW-Parkside Director of Scholarships Cynthia Jensen said recipients gain more than money when they get a UW-Parkside scholarship.
"Certainly, the money students get from winning a scholarship is the motivating factor when they apply," Jensen said. "Then there's the pride factor--a scholarship says there are faculty who recognize your abilities and potential and they want to help you reach that potential."
Jensen said scholarship applications for the 2006-2007 academic year are being accepted now through Feb. 1, 2006. For more information about scholarships, contact Jensen at cynthia.jensen@uwp.edu by email or check the UW-Parkside web site at www.uwp.edu key word: scholarships.
