UW-Parkside inaugurates Chancellor Ford Nov. 6
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside proudly announces the installation and investiture of Dr. Deborah L. Ford as chancellor Friday, Nov. 6, on the campus at 900 Wood Rd. in Kenosha. The highlight of a week-long celebration, the ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m. in the Student Center Cinema. This program is open to the public.
Dr. Ford is the sixth chancellor to lead UW-Parkside since the campus opened in 1968. University of Wisconsin System President Kevin Reilly presides over the formal installation and investiture ceremony. The proceedings include an inaugural address by Dr. Ford.
"It is a tremendous honor to have the opportunity to serve the students and communities of southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois as chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside," Dr. Ford stated. "During my address, I will honor the people whose hard work and selfless efforts created and sustained this campus through its first four decades. I will also talk about the vision we have for UW-Parkside and how this university's Four Hallmarks will strengthen this campus and the surrounding region as we move forward."
Chancellor Ford said UW-Parkside's Four Hallmarks are Academic Excellence, Student Success, Community Engagement, and Diversity and Inclusiveness.
Earlier in the week, the university showcases the academic achievement of its students and faculty and celebrates its community involvement. Tuesday, Nov. 3, the university holds "A Celebration of Student Success" with special displays featuring student research and scholarship. Faculty and academic staff are honored Wednesday, Nov. 4, during "A Celebration of Academic Excellence." Thursday, Nov. 5, "A Celebration of Community Engagement" highlights the efforts of the university and its students and faculty to serve the people and communities of southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
Saturday, Nov. 7, UW-Parkside concludes Inauguration Week and the year-long celebration of its founding with the 40th Anniversary Gala. In addition to honoring three of the area's leading citizens: Fran Jaeschke, Rita Tallent Picken, and Harriet Wyllie, the evening features great music, a sumptuous dinner, and a chance to win a dazzling diamond pendant designed exclusively for the 40th Anniversary Gala.
