The 5th House Ensemble here Sunday, June 17. |
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside continues its Summer Music Series with a Father's Day concert by the 5th House Ensemble. Beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 17, "5HE" fills the Frances Bedford Concert Hall of the Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for Arts and Humanities with imagination, energy, and great chamber music during this free event.
Praised by the New York Times for its "conviction, authority, and finesse," the Chicago-based Fifth House Ensemble is a versatile and dynamic group. Pioneering the art of "narrative chamber music," 5HE brings together elements of storytelling, physical theatre, graphic novels, and fashion design with music to create a unique multi-media theatrical adventure.
Working with writers/directors Rebekah Scallet and Lindsey Marks, the Fifth House Ensemble presents "The Weaver's Tales." Based on Grimm's fairytales, "The Weaver's Tales" seamlessly weaves together classic fairy tales in a three-part work that captivates audiences with a full sensory experience.
The 5th House Ensemble served as Ensemble in Residence at Carthage College in fall 2009. The group has also performed and held workshops and residencies at The Colburn School, Yale University, Millikin University, Manchester College, Northwestern University, DePaul University, University of Illinois-Chicago, and the University of Northern Iowa.
Members of the Fifth House Ensemble are also active as orchestral musicians, having performed with ensembles including the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Also active as educators, members of Fifth House serve on the faculties of Carthage College, the Merit School of Music, Trinity University, and DePaul University.
Give Dad (and yourself) a treat! Spend part of his day with the 5th House Ensemble Sunday, June 17, at 2 p.m.in the Bedford Concert Hall of The Rita!
