Calling all Alumni: Join us for Indy Day celebrations! |
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside Alumni Association (UWPAA) invites all area alumni to join in the fun of marching in this year's Kenosha and Racine Independence Day parades. University alumni, their family members, and friends are welcome to take part in the festivities Sunday, July 1, beginning at 2 p.m. in Kenosha or Wednesday, July 4, at 9 a.m. in Racine. Marchers are provided with special UW-Parkside gear.
"This year, we want UW-Parkside alumni to not just see the parades but be the parades," said Alumni Relations Manager Peppy O'Neill. "We enthusiastically invite every graduate to join us in celebrating America!"
The UWPAA's entry in each parade spotlights two of the university's major success stories in 2012: the celebration of the Year of the Arts and Humanities and the success of Ranger athletics.
The Year of the Arts and Humanities kicked off in January with the opening of the Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for Arts and Humanities and continues through December with a broad spectrum of concerts, plays, art exhibitions, and much more. UW-Parkside athletic success included the women's basketball team reaching the NCAA Division II Sweet 16 for the second straight year and head coach Jenny Knight Kenesie's selection as Great Lakes Valley Conference Coach of the Year.
Alumni can share in the fun by carrying flags of the university or the Stars and Stripes in one or both parades. For more parade information and to register, call Peppy O'Neill at 262-595-2233 or email oneillp@uwp.edu no later than Wednesday, June 27.
